On Sunday 29th June 2025 we are presenting a large-scale performance of the fantastic
Verdi Requiem
at West Rd Concert Hall, Cambridge.
Commencing at 7pm
This concert is in celebration of the Choir's 25th anniversary, and additional singers and musicians are joining us to make this a truly magnificent event.

Songs and Sonnets
On the 28th and 29th March we presented a joyful programme of English music.
The concert was a great success and it set our audience and singers in the mood to start enjoying the springtime.

We are a friendly choral society based in Histon and are proud to have been producing high-quality music for 25 years!
For the Verdi Requiem we are bringing together a substantial choir and excellent professional orchestra. Our established choir has over 100 members but we want to expand for this special anniversary performance.
Lower voices are particularly welcome!
Concert: Sunday 29th June, 2025
Rehearsal venue: Histon Baptist Church
Rehearsals:
- First rehearsal: Wednesday Apr 2nd, 7:30.
- (Easter break Apr 9, 16).
- Then: Wednesday April 23, 30, May 7, 14, 21, 28, June 4, 11, 18, 25 , all at 7.30.
- Final rehearsals: Afternoon of Saturday June 28th at Histon Baptist Church and afternoon of Sunday June 29th at West Road.
Experienced singers familiar with the Requiem could attend fewer rehearsals, on request.
Cost: £50 which includes music hire.
Scores: Some singers choose to buy or use their own scores but hired scores will be available.
Concert dress: All black for ladies (sleeve length below elbow, trousers or long skirt) and DJs with black bow ties for men.

2023 Advent concert: Bach's "Magnificat" and Carols

Evensong in Ely Cathedral
We were invited by Ely Cathedral to sing Choral Evensong as a Visiting Choir. 30 members of the choir took part and our music included The Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis by C. Villiers Stanford and My Beloved Spake by Patrick Hadley. The service was held on Friday 27 October, 2023. It was streamed live on YouTube, and the recording is available to watch.

Over sixty singers attended the event, many from other choirs in the region, and an exciting and challenging day was enjoyed by all - culminating in an informal performance at the end of the afternoon.

With the boundless energy of our musical director
Chloë Allison and our brilliant orchestra, we will be performing Bach’s joyful “Magnificat”.
There will be carols for the choir and the audience to join in with and we will be joined by local choirs Ten Sing and Chesterton Singers to add to the pleasure.
Tickets are £12 with free entry to under 16's accompanied by an adult. Sales will open mid-October


Guest Conductor
Timothy Carney
Tim is Associate Professor of Music at Chaminade University of Honolulu, teaching music history and music theory. He conducts the Chaminade Chorus and the annual spring musical. He's also taught at St Olaf College, Ripon College, University of Illinois and the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
He's led choruses across the USA, in France, England, Australia and New Zealand; and is the founding Music Director of Hawaii Vocal Arts Ensemble. He has led the first Hawaii performances of many choral masterworks, including Schumann's Paradise and the Peri, Suter's Le Laudi di San Francesco d'Assisi, Olsson's Te Deum, Vaughan-Williams' Dona Nobis Pacem.
He has prepared choruses for Robert Shaw, Robert Page and Josepg Flummerfelt and has led performances of Haydn's Creation, the Requiems of Brahms, Verdi, Cherubini,Faure and Duruffle as well as Mendelssohn's Elijah and many other masterworks.
In March 2014 he conducted Choir 2000's performance of Bach's St John Passion and returned to jointly direct Suter's 'Le Laudi' in June 2018.
