Spring term 2022

We're starting rehearsals online but don't despair..

we plan to meet for in person rehearsals as soon as circumstances allow at Histon Baptist Church.

We''ll be working on Faure's 'Requiem' plus some additional material selected by Chloe with a themed concert in mind at the end of term (hopefully)..

 A message from Chloë

Dear Choir 2000, I hope you are all well and that you have had an enjoyable few weeks. I am really looking forward to working with you this coming term! Just a quick note about repertoire and rehearsals. Whilst we are on zoom, I am going to split the rehearsal time – half on a movement (or two) of the Fauré Requiem and half on one of the shorter pieces on the music list. I have chosen those pieces with a themed concert programme in mind, with a view to continuing to work on them alongisde the Fauré when we are back in person. It will not therefore be learning notes for the sake of it! Fingers crossed that things will have improved enough for a concert at the end of term. The rehearsals will be really useful, not only for learning notes, but also sorting out the language, marking up scores with breaths and expressive marks, and thinking about interpretation. I know zoom is not the same as rehearsing in person, but hopefully it is not for long and we can use zoom to lay some really solid foundations for when we come back together in person. Bearing all that in mind, please can you make sure you have a pencil to mark up your scores. I will also start each rehearsal with a thorough warm up in which we will think about some technical aspects of singing. I have found with my other choir that technical work done on zoom has the potential to make a huge difference to the sound when the choir meets in person. I am looking forward to meeting you all properly soon and all the best until then, Chloë
