Choral Day May 30th 2020 - POSTPONED

Come and sing with us - Britten's 'St Nicolas'

15th March 2020

Because of the uncertainty created by the current health emergency, we've decided to postpone this event until later in the year.

As soon as the situation becomes clearer, we'll advise the new date for this event.

For this event, we're inviting singers to come along to learn and perform Benjamin Britten’s cantata ‘Saint Nicolas’.

Written for performance at the Centenary Celebrations of Lancing College, Sussex on 24th July, 1948, our performance in the afternoon will include a girl’s choir, three “pickled boys” and a soloist playing the role of the Saint. The work tells the story of the saint's life, focusing on the many miracles attributed to him.

We are delighted to welcome  Janet MacLeod to direct us on the day and we'll be joined by Andrew Yeats (tenor) who some of you will remember from last year's choral day in which he sang the role of 'Gerontius'.

Enrolment is £20 - we'll provide a vocal score or you may prefer to bring your own if you have one.

We're offering a lunch of baked potato with salad and choice of fillings for an additional £5 (bookable in advance).

You're welcome to bring a packed lunch if you prefer; and there are lots of places in walking distance of the venue you can get lunch.

Drinks and nibbles will be available throughout the day.
