John Rutter's 60th Birthday

2005, the year of John Rutter's 60th birthday, was celebrated with concerts far and wide in the musical world, from New York to Johannesburg and from London (1) | (2) to Barton-under-Needwood.

The picture shows Dr Rutter, honorary president of Choir 2000, receiving the Choir's present of a bound copy of his own Magnificat. The presentation was made on behalf of the Choir by Grayston Burgess, Musical Director, Beatrix Bown, Choir co-ordinator and Michael Pride, Chairman (who also did the binding !).

John Rutter has held workshops with the Choir on his Magnificat (2001), a variety of choral music (2002) and Verdi's Requiem (2005). See Past events for details. The Choir performed Rutter's Magnificat in 2001 , Mass of the children in 2004 and plans to perform Magnificat again in their 2006/07 season.
